Red and white bump coming out of side of tongue

I woke up and felt like something was in my mouth. I checked in the mirror and there was thing red pointy bump sticking out of my tongue with a white tip. There's no pain when I touch it. I'm 20, and wear a retainer at night, so I'm not sure if its due to my tongue rubbing against the plastic retainer. My dentist I went to had made a thicker retainer, because I sometimes grind my teeth. My mother is a nurse and doesn't know what it is. Should I pop it? And is it like a mouth pimple? imageimage
