Red and white spots under foreskin

I’ve had this problem for about 3 months now and it occurs on a weekly, if not sooner basis.

The white spots easily rub off, especially when I am cleaning myself in the shower. After I clean under my foreskin it can look red and irritated and my bellend almost feels sticky, making it hard to pull back my foreskin, leaving intendments on my bellend.

When I wake up in the morning it looks normal. It usually goes away at night but throughout the day the red and white spots tend to come back. My penis gets a lot more Smegma under the foreskin than I used to and it smells a lot worse throughout the day but it is fine after I shower. Sometimes I get red blotches/patches on my bellend too. I’ve even had occasions when my foreskin goes a bit dry.

If this doesn’t occur again the next day, it usually returns a few days later but as mentioned, my penis always seems to have more Smegma than usual. This issue has never caused me any pain.

I am sexually active but with the same partner for 4 years and I know I am her only sexual partner too.

If you need anymore photos I can provide some more.

Do you have any ideas what this could be?

(I apologise if any of the terminology I used was incorrect).

Hi John, apologies for no one responding on this! No apologies on your part for your terminology required!!

What the photographs and your detailed explanation suggest is that you have a relatively complex situation going on. For someone who has this appearance and the associated other symptoms the best thing to recommend is to go see a Dermatologist, and preferably, one who deals with Genital skin conditions.

However, I have been dealing with a great deal of skin issues with my penis all my adult life and I can also help you, and give you a great deal of guidance that would certainly improve your situation.

As you posted this some 3 days ago, simply let me know you are 'still out there' and I can give you the details .... simply respond by posting a reply .......... !

Hi John, so as I say, you are most likely going to need the help of a Dermatologist with this - but I am going to give you my full guide on how to establish good penile hygiene and the broader issues you need to be aware of to help establish a healthy penile hygiene regime. The wording is not aimed at you personally, but are aimed at all men suffering this level of symptom on the head area of the penis. Read through it carefully and put as much in place as you can - if you have any further questions get back to me. As I say, the best Dermatologist would be one specialising in Genital Health Disorders. Once you have seen a Dermatologist it would be useful if you could update your Forum Thread here so that any future readers would know how you have progressed ........

Penile Hygiene Regime to Combat Specific Problems

      .

The best approach is not to use ANY SOAP on the Glans / Head of your penis - wash with water only EVERY time you have urinated, after sexual arousal, and ejaculation. If you are not circumcised, protect the Glans of your penis every time you take a shower by drawing the foreskin as far forward as you can, then wash everywhere else, thoroughly rinse off all the gels / shampoo and suchlike, then expose your glans wash it with the water only using the inside of your hand, then each time you have washed it you must make sure to 100% pat dry immediately afterwards with a towel.

      .

After you have put this in place and you still have the situation going on you need to look at what else your penis is coming into contact with on a fairly regular basis.  The likely suspects are:-

      • any chemical compounds such as skin cream / lotions, baby oil, oil based lubes, chemicals inside condoms (e.g. easy-on and spermicides) you need to exclude these one by one to discover the culprit, the easiest approach is to exclude everything to start with, then once things are on the mend, introduce each individual item to discover what has caused this in the first place.
      • if non of these make any difference you need to look to things such as washing powder in which you wash your clothes, and underwear in, in particular.  The simple alternative to washing powder is Liquid Soap Flakes, most sizeable supermarkets stock this in their own brand names - and you use this in your washing machine instead of powders or ANY fabric conditioner type additives.

If all this produces no resolution to what you have, or your condition dramatically worsens, seek medical advice from your regular Doctor - but please note, many do not fully understand the differences between the potential skin conditions you may potentially have.  Therefore, the better course of action may be to see a Dermatologist, or alternatively, go to a Specialist Sexual Health Service and ask to see the duty Urologist.

Thankyou, I appreciate the help. I will book myself an appointment.

I mostly do all of those things but I will take extra care to make sure I am. I’ve done some research myself in the past, symptoms look similar to some sort of thrush/Balanitis. Do you think this could be a cause?

So I am wondering how long ago you first may have noticed the first symptoms of this? Have you ever previously sought professional medical help for this? It is hunch that you have had something going on for quite some time

Whatever the case, I think you may well have a severe skin condition - this is why I recommended seeing a Dermatologist specialising in Genital Health Disorders. You at least need to see any Medical Professional as soon as possible, even your Regular / Family Doctor / GP - but if you can get along to a Walk-In Sexual Health Service or a GUM Clinic then go there .....

Once you have seen a Medical Professional it would be good if you can update this Forum Thread ......
