Red dry cracked penis glans

Gday.

Long time reader 1st time poster, about 18 months ago I had a short fling with a girl. I can't exactly recall when but shortly after I developed this weird red rash that ive never seen

I notice there is a fair few posters suffering something similar

I have tried,

Anti fungal

Anti bacterial

Steroid cream

Keto cream

Tacrolimus/pimeolimus

Moisturizer

Coconut oil

Eczema cream

Colloidal oatmeal cream

Vitamin d capsules both orally and on the area directly.

None of them seem to make much difference. Although Im regularly using moisturiser which while it doesn't improve it, it seems to alleviate some of the redness.

I've been tested for everything. . I've had bloods, urine and swabs with nothing come up

Anyone?

The sexual encounters may only be coincidence. These kinds of symptoms are really common, the problem being, getting at what it is that is causing them. You may have one of the more enduring forms of Balanitis that is an actual skin condition, not just a description for adverse penile symptoms. Although, if you have had this for around 18 months, symptoms would be usually be much worse that this by now.

You have tried quite a list of different things - here is what I would try:

Stop applying anything and everything to your penis for several weeks, simply keep your penile Hygiene right! Three, 4 or 5 weeks would be good - and see what impact this has? If it does not clear completely, I would start with the a Steroid Ointment, not the Cream versions as this simply is not effective for some people. I wonder if you have been to a Dermatologist? - They may give you a Steroid Ointment if you can only get this prescribed by a Medical Professional .....

I haven't been to a dermatologist yet. I have gotten a refferel for a urologist. It seems as if I don't apply anything it gets irritated more so the usual.

It appears to now be affecting my foreskin.. anyone help with a solution this is driving me to wits end

The irritation is most likely being caused by either something your are applying, or something your penis is in regular contact with - this is why often it is best simply to return your penis to its natural state of having nothing put on it at all, and simply washing with plain water.

Hopefully the Urologist will be really helpful and/or they may suggest a Dermatologist can help get to the bottom of what it is you have going on - if it is now affecting your foreskin it could be an actual skin condition you have. Do not entertain any suggestions that the Urologist may make about getting circumcised should they mention this ... I would be tempted to see them in a Clowns outfit should they say this to you .... if they do, seek a Dermatologist yourself .....

Will how you doing? Were you able to fix your problem?? I have the same issue 😢

Roberto, you have clicked on my name in your most recent post in this specific Forum. I see you tried to contact Will 6+ days ago and have not received a response.

My suggestion would be to start your own Forum Discussion using the “New Discussion” button below.

The number of Dermatologists you have seen should have been able to resolve this issue for you - so there is obviously something radically wrong in the approach they are taking.

However, I wonder whether you have actually seen a Dermatologist that specialises in Genital Skin Disorders as they have a more in-depth knowledge of skin problems on the penis?

Foreskin retraction is something I have tried in the past and can be a useful aid in helping your penile skin recover, but, you obviously have not found the exact treatment that will be the key to getting your skin back to what it should be.

As I say, start a New Forum Post - post a few photos that clearly show the problem you have, and if you can also state the name(s) of the Steroid Cream you have been using that would be most helpful.

The important thing to note about topical Steroids applied to the penis is that CREAM versions address infections of the skin, however, it is ONLY OINTMENT versions of steroid applications that will ENABLE your skin to recover. So this is something you need to check - open the cap, or read the detail on the side of the tube, if it is white inside it is a cream, if it is clear / opaque it is an ointment.

    Hi Will,

Did you find a solution to your problem? I have exactly the same problem,

I had sex without a condom with a girl 18 months ago and I have exactly the same red rash with cracks in the glans, which has been extending a bit over time.

    I have tried,

    Anti fungal

    Anti bacterial

    Steroid cream

Simulating being circumcised keeping my foreskin retrieved from the glans

Nothing has worked, I have visited tens of dermatologists and urologists but noone knows what is the issue nor can find the solution.

The last dermatologist I visited today recommended me to use a lube oil/Moisturizer and protopic Tacrolimus (which after reading internet reviews scares me a lot...).

Any help is appreciated, I am very worried, this is not going away but growing.

Hi Will did you ever find anything to solve this or even help?

I've been dealing with the same issues for years trying to figure it out, but I think I've finally found the problem. roughly 5 years ago, I started wearing tight jeans every day and I've always wore tight boxer breifs. This gives your penis no room for air and it's smooshed against your thigh all day every day. This eventually make the skin softer due to constant moisture and wrinkling of the skin and glans (head of penis). It's been a week of wearing loose clothing and I am feeling much better although there's still some sensitivity. I'll keep y'all updated weekly. Just search the side effects of wearing tight jeans. I hope this helps.

Any joy on this Will? Much like youself, I've tried many things the last being steroid creams following a dermatologist appointment in February this year. I've not followed up as I paid to go private and money's tight plus COVID. My skin is no better, abstaining from sex or masturbation and application of the steroid does ease the symptoms but Ultimately it comes back.

I already have previously, the thread has pretty much dried up so I'm looking elsewhere for help... I've had said condition for near on 18 months now. Ive tried antifungal cream and tablets, 2 weeks of antibiotics, antibiotic cream. steroid and antifungal creams combined. GP told me to try any household moisturiser tried that. eliminated all creams for a period, still didn't work. Eventually forked out the ÂŁ200 for a dermatologist appointment as my GP wasn't referring me. Got given a stronger steroid and alas here I am still suffering. So if anyone has any advice other than the above it would be massively appreciated because this is getting beyond now
