Red irritation at the left of the meatus

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi guys!

I have a red irritation at the left of my meatus since quite some time. It's painless and it's not really noticeable if you don't know.

It's red and a bit elevated in the morning when I'm getting up but it becomes blueish and flat during the day (like the pics with this message)

I'm with the same partner since almost 5 years. I passed a urinary test last september and it came back negative.

I have an appointment with my GP next week.

Does someone had any experience with that?

Thanks!

Try applying a mild steroid cream like Hydrocortisone to get rid of the irritation and swelling.

Doesn't seem to be anything serious though.

    Any updates?

My GP told me that was nothing serious. Probably a fungal infection. He gave me a prescription for a clotrimazole cream called Lotriderm. I didn't see improvement for the moment. I'm on the first of two weeks of treatment.

Mine looks very similar to yours, although a bit worse since it's been 7 months now. Seen several physicians and tried lotriderm, hydrocortisone cream, and several antibiotics with no help. Mine also gets a lot more inflamed during an erection. Is yours the same?

It's probably a combination of bacterial/fungal and dermatological. Although recently I've been reading about autoimmune disorders like lichen sclerosus, and seem like some of them start of with these types of symptoms as well. I feel like most doctors won't be of much help unless you find someone that specializes in genital skin disorders, particularly for Caucasian skin (and there's fewer and fewer of them left in the world).

In the last couple days, I've tried taking OTC Ibuprofen 200mg twice per day and eating a lot of raw garlic. Both are anti-inflammatory and both function in breaking down bacterial/fungal biofilm. There has been a little improvement and my glans has decreased slightly redness, but too early to tell.

Mine gets more inflamed erect as well and also in humid environment.

Showers are a trigger to the inflamation.

It´s pretty red in the morning too. The inflamation decreased during the day. it´s really weird.

Like I said in my original post, I have no pain or dry skin. The redness comes from under the skin. It´s really weird. I'm trying to keep the area as dry as possible.

Yes same here, the redness seems to come from under the skin as well. Almost like damaged capillaries. At times it almost looks normal, then the spots appear randomly if there's increased blood flow or certain environment changes.

Are you sure the redness decreases and not just different light changes. For example, sunlight or fluorescent lighting can make it look worse. Or perhaps it's your sleeping position that irritates the glans and increases the redness in the morning.

Hopefully the steroid/antifungal cream doctor prescribed you helps. Are you circumcised?

I'm taking blood thinners everyday. I don´t know if this is a factor.

Yeah, the redness decreased during the day or when my penis is dry. I'm trying a lot of things the last few day to find what´s triggering the inflammation. So far, the heat and showers are the worst. Also, I will exchange my microfiber underwears for cotton underwear. Maybe it will help.

      No, I'm not circuncised.

Apply a moisturiser like coconut oil or shea butter (after washing with warm water and patting it dry).

      Do it daily.

You should see improvement in a week.

Apply a water based lubricant before sex or coconut oil before masturbation.

Blood thinners can cause easy bruising and bleeding. Not sure which one you are on, as there are very mild ones like ASA to much stronger ones like warfarin. Yea try to remove all irritants, even laundry detergent can cause a reaction. Keep us up to date if the lotriderm helps you. Eventually physicians will probably recommend circumcision as well if the creams do not help.

Have tried weeks of coconut oil, Vaseline, etc. Also tried lotriderm and more power corticosteriod and antifungal creams. Antibiotics as well.

I'm on warfarin for the rest of my life unfortunately. It´s maybe a part of the problem.

I'll keep this thread updated with the latest development. I promise!

I'm not too stressed about the situation. It´s just annoying and I hope will we find a solution soon!

i have the same thing. Was told by the doctor all my blood work and urianlysis was normal. Went to dermatologist and they have a dermatitis ointment and an antifungal ointment they seem to be working, but slowly. The bump on the tip has gotten a little more red.
