Red meat x inflammation

I just eat red meat now and then - avoid eating it regularly because it does not help the inflammation, just the opposite.

What is your experience on that matter?

Inflammation associated with PMR and bloating more associated with Prednisone are two familiar outcomes from this disease.  To counter both, my wife has kept me on a strict, anti-inflammatory diet.  It has held my weight entirely in check.  As to the inflammation, I drink tart cherry juice, and eat a range of anti-inflammatory foods such as avocado.  There is a lot of content on the web about anti-inflammatory diets.  The real question is whether one has the discipline to follow.  I don't so my wife controls the keys.

Overall, hard to say whether the anti-inflammatory food items really work, but I am trying just about everything to get an edge up on PMR.  Recently, I have gone Gluten free, again to try something different.

Thank you Arden for your reply!

Using my one quart and a half Crock Pot I prepared a roast yesterday after quite some time eating red meat.

I know it is not on the list of good food for inflammation however I am not having any bad symptom today after the delicious dinner I had yesterday.

Based on your symptoms as you describe you better really to avoid it.

You get stuck on a strict inflammation diet and those bad symptoms you are having will go away. Eat salad with wedges of navel oranges and slightly roasted almonds ( divided into 4 batches , using a skillet on a burner) for breakfast.

No salt to cook - use herbs instead,

Lots is greens (as kale, broccoli ) , veggies ( I broil them to taste like grilled) , avocado, all berries, papaya, half a banana, Greek yogurt, cheeses...

The unwanted symptoms will go away.

I did not feel anything after my red meat dinner of yesterday though.

      Stay well 🌸

Thank you for your reply to my discussion.

I do the same as you, Margo , I am stuck on fish - wild, not farm raised and chicken without the skin,

Avocado, fresh ginger, turmeric , cinnamon, etc

      This is my food plan too.  When eating out, i had a chopped salad with grilled chicken, oil and vinegar for the dressing;

I think you are all nuts. I just use commonsense and don't over indulge, I eat all meats, in moderation, I do limit my sweets thou and I'm also no or low sodium; kidneys are stage 4. I want to enjoy the few years I have left, so I don't cut out all the good tasty food; I even drink 2 to 3 Yuenglings a day. Why do you want to deprive yourself, just up the steroids and get going. That's just my opinion.

Agree ! I said I go now and then out of my daily diet. If we totally deprive ourselves of everything we end up craving this and that and when we eat those things we exaggerate....

There are certain food I avoid eating frequently but I eat them sometimes- including carbs, a glass of wine, a piece of chicolste, to name few.

Yes, Jeanne, we are on the same page.😊

      xx

You have a good attitude, but I'm working on the principle that I *might* live another 25 years and I don't want to say in 10 years time, if I'd known I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care of myself!cheesygrin
