Red or swollen meatus. Male

Posted , 3 users are following.

On my penis, the opening of the urethra is red and look swollen. It is much more sensitive and painful to dry friction then the rest of my penis head. Uncommonly it will become much much more swollen after masturbation, I'm 19 and as far as i know I've had this my whole life. I remember there was a cream my father applied to it when i was very young but it did not do anything to change this. Last year i went to a doctor and he said it is normal. imageimage

This is a difficult one to simply say it is this, or that. Yes, your Meatus can develop naturally like this, but also there are medical conditions that can cause this - however if this has been like this all your life it is unlikely to cause a problem other than the irritation you are experiencing.

The medical specialist on things like this is a Urologist, it may be an idea to try to get to see one so that you can be reassured what is going on with this.

When you masturbate do you apply anything to your penis such as a skin cream or baby oil, or anything else ..... ?

When i was young i had very tight foreskin so i couldn't actually retract it past my glands when i masterbated. It wasn't until i was 15 that i stretched it back. Now i masterbate mostly without lube and without touching the head of the penis. Occasionally i will use skin cream which is the only time i am able to masterbate involving the head of the penis.

The friction that masturbation causes to external skin is not an issue for the majority of men. A problem can arise if something that is applied to the head of the penis gets inside the Meatus, and, either causes internal irritation to the Meatus itself or to the Urethra.

If you think there has been an issue all of your life, particularly, then I think it is only a Urologist that can help you sort out what is going on
