Red patch, slightly shiny, not elevated on penis tip

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hello

I am uncircumcised and noticed this red patchiness on my penis head that came in over the course of a few days, about three weeks ago. I had the same thing happen a few months back and it lasted for a good 3-6 weeks. I attached a couple photos. I will have a doctor's appointment next week and I will update you all, as I know others on the internet have had similar types of things and were diagnosed with balanitis.

If anyone has any thoughts on this or can share your experience, please post.

Thank you

-J

Hi C, It looks nice and clean so you must be and have been washing behind your foreskin for a long time so that really cuts out balanitis, so what did you do last time you had it?

It could be a yeast infection, does your partner if you have one get yeast infection? if yes that could be your answer, and try using coconut oil on it as its a antibiotic and it fights yeast infections.

      HOWHARD

Thanks for the reply and for your activity around this forum. The last time this happened I did nothing and it went away on its own after a month or so.

I have had yeast infections before - I find that they are more "dynamic" and changing constantly in terms of which regions are red and itchy.

This on the other hand seemed to flare up within a few days and hasn't been changing too much in size and shape, suggesting it is something different.  Looking forward to seeing the doc. I've been worried about HSV-2. On the other hand, this doesn't seem to look like that. My girlfriend does not have a yeast infection smile

This does not look like HSV at all. There is certainly skin irritation and a derm would be your best bet.

Also, from personal experience - be careful with steroid creams in that region, as I am taking a guess a doctor will prescribe you a cream for this. Longer term steroid use can caused some issues such as skin thinning. Just something else to discuss with your doctor.

Thanks for your input. I feel a bit relieved after discussing with the girlfriend and the response on this forum.
