Red patches on penis head (phimosis)

Hello everyone,

I'm dealing with phimosis since almost a year. I've ripped my Frenulum during intercourse with my fiancee and in order to let it recover, I've neglected to stretch my skin and it got very itchy, dry and tight. Since three weeks I would say, I've began stretching and applying moisturizing cream on my penis in order to get over with the situation and I'm pleased to say that it's becoming more and more flexible.

However, I've noticed that I have some red patches on the tip of my penis. I'm concerned about it. From what I've read on the Internet, it seems to be balanitis and it could be a consequence of my phimosis. I've never had that before my injury and now that I can retract some part of my skin now, I see this and I'm concerned. Any thoughts about what it could be? Any indications or help?

I saw my general practionner in September, telling him that I had phimosis, but I have no appointment scheduled for the near future.

Thanks in advance for any assistance, much appreciated!

Chris

What did your GP say?  Balanitis can usually be cleared up with cream.  And phimosis can be caused by balanitis.

Hi, thanks for the answer. My GP said that it was phimosis, but he never saw the red patches. I feel that when I ripped my frenelum, then that caused phimosis. But I don't know about the red patches ;/ It doesn't hurt or burn and I'm in my mid 20's. I don't have any problems having an errection either. But it's sometimes uncomfortable when I urinate.

My skin is getting more flexible in the last few weeks, so Phimosis is coming along. I have a long way to go still, but I'm just concerned about the red patches!

      Best,

      Chris

I would go to a Urologist.  Red patches can be nothing, or something.  I tend to be quick to doc with anything in this area.  I have very mild phimosis caused by a bout with balanitis.  I've seen a urologist a few times and done a lot of reading on both phimosis and balanitis.  I have found that it is difficult to self diagnose because of all the various things it could be.  On the positive side, many of these things can be diagnosed visually by a specialist.

I'm in Canada and I have been waiting for an appointment with a urologist since last September. I was worried it was penile cancer or something, but it's just me probably being too concerned with something serious. I was considering going to a pharmacy and buying into an anti-fungal cream (it couldn't do harm). I'm just worried about what it is (but I think it's balanitis)!

The problem is that Balanitis can be caused by different things.  Antifungal cream may or may not work - although I doubt it could hurt.  Penile cancer is very very rare!
