Red raised bump on penis

Hi,

just wondered if anyone would be able to offer some advice.

I have a raised red bump on the head of my penis, and then also red bumps on what I would call the belt, at the back, and then a few others dotted around.

They are totally painless and have had them for I would say over 5 years, also have no other symptoms with them at all. one of the small bump did bleed quite a lot once when i scratched it by accident but that was on one occasion.

I did see a doctor a couple of months ago, and he wasnt the most helpful unfortunately, although he did rule out cancer and from what I understood, he put the bumps down to "trauma" and burst blood vessels, is this possible ?

does anybody else have any advice?

The only person that would know for sure is a Urologist. Do you live in the UK, or otherwise can get access to a Urologist?

Larger Walk-In Sexual Health Services often have a duty Urologist that you can ask to see - if you are in the UK you can also go to a GUM Clinic at a General Hospital - or you can get a GP to refer you to a Urology Department.

If these were 'merely' trauma and burst blood vessels I would be looking to minimise the visual impact of them, perhaps by a combination of minor surgery and topical steroid ointment. Again, a Urologist will diagnose what you actually have and advise you on the best ways of dealing with them .....

    Hi David72035,

Balanitis is irritation of the head (glans) of your penis. It's usually caused by poor hygiene or an infection. You're more likely to develop balanitis if you're uncircumcised. Red spots, swelling, and itching are common symptoms.
