Red scaly bump on leg — what could this be?

This randomly appeared on my upper leg a couple weeks ago and was a bit smaller, so I initially thought it was a pimple. It's grown a little and now I think it looks more like a mole, but red? Not painful, doesn't itch. Any idea what it could be?

I will likely book an appointment with a dermatologist, but I have a history with health paranoia / anxiety and wonder if this is just a totally normal thing I shouldn't be worried about. Any insights appreciated!

    It may be a fibroma but as it is growing you should get it checked by a dermatologist to make sure.
