Red shiny spots on penis, what is it?

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hi,

For a couple weeks now I have noticed there is a red shiny area on my penis that looks scaley once it’s soft. It looks like a straight line and you can see that it’s slightly raised above the skin surface.

Since then another similar spot has popped up, however they both do not itch or irritate me.

I’m uncertain as to what it is and hoping I could get some advice on how to treat it. Is there somewhere I could upload photos to share so you can see what I am talking about?

Thanks

Dylan

As you suggest, I could ask exactly where on the penis you have these - but, better still, you could upload images.  You can only do this from a laptop or PC - click on the Reply button first, then, in the top right corner, above the text box itself you will see 4 icon buttons [B - i - smile - and the "Upload an Image" button} click on that and upload ....

Hi Buck, it is time to seek medical advice, especially since there is another spot.

Good luck and God bless, Ken

I have been having exactly the same problem over the past year and still struggling to get rid of similar shiny spots. So, have you visited a doctor? What did it turn out to be?

Hello, I have the same problem. Have you been to the doctor? Do you already know what it is?

Hey guys hoping I can spread some light at the end of this tunnel after 3 years of dealing with it. I want to say I've tried everything, seen plenty of doctors, dermatologist but I'm finally getting better and everything is feeling as it was.

I want to say I have everything symptoms on similar forums:

      flare ups

      dry patches

      red/pinkish skin

      Shower irritation

      worse after masturbating/sex

All std tests were clear, my blood was clear and absolutely nothing. I was treated for thrush and bacterial and no success at all - at one point I was told to Just live with as it's an autoimmune issue. I was wrongly prescribed hydrocortisone THREE times. I had success after my first tube but it came back worse, I was then prescribed a second lot and the same thing happened and then after months of looking worse I was prescribed a third lot and it got better, but then....it got a lot worse. It was red raw and just horrendous. After months of no healing I tried coconut oil, sudocrem, aftersun and hydrogen peroxide and nothing.

If your doctor is prescribing you a steroid cream please stop now and google topical steroid withdrawal. That was exactly how my penis looked and that is the same story again and again, it looks better but then it gets worse and it will take over a year to get better.

After seeing a new dermatologist last year Ive got a diagnosis and a treatment plan for life and I'm having great success.

      Diagnosis: gential psoriasis

Treatment: first week use advantan fatty ointment 0.1% (something I was hesitant about due to my previous experience with a steroid but this is only the first step)

From there on you will use a product called tacrolimius to keep things at bay. I used it for about 2x weeks and stopped and have rarely had to use it in the last 7 months. Approximately twice as a thin layer overnight when I've noticed something that may be the beginning of a flare up. The tacrolimius stops that from happening and I go about my day.

      Hope this helps someone
