What can it cause? As in terms problems as in infections and stuff. Will it require a circumcision. It doesn't hurt, Ive been stretching last few days to loosen the skin and its started going over the glans.

I've read if left untreated it can cause things like scaring and stuff. I was hoping to self help and stretch the area so I can put the foreskin over the glands. I've kept the area clean, etc.

J, can you confirm your age, and state whether you are sexually active or not? Also, have you just started to expose the glans (head) of your penis?

As John rightly points out, you have phimosis - which simply means a tight foreskin. I had this when I was in my teenage years and managed to resolve it myself.

And certainly no, I is most unlikely to require circumcision. You should avoid trying to expose the head of your penis when you have an erection, or when you start messing with your penis that may cause an erection when you have your penile head exposed as this can cause what is referred to as Paraphimosis and this can be really painful.

So, Paraphimosis is when the foreskin becomes trapped behind the head of the penis, and if you happen to have a full erection at the time this can cause severe pain. It would be wise to be aware of what to do if this happens, try to relax, you can splash the penis with really cold water in the bathroom, or a technique that works well is to squeeze the head of the penis - this may cause very briefly more pain, but, usually results in you losing the erection and the foreskin becomes released.

This is something you can practice before getting to a full erection, try it when you do NOT have the head of your penis exposed, or fully exposed, then you get the idea of how the technique works.

So yes, the vast majority of young men can treat this themselves, but you may need to do the stretches over an expended period of months, simply do not give up on them and you will succeed!

And no, you are unlikely to experience scarring or anything else untoward. If you want any further guidance on this, simply hit the "Reply" button, I do not respond to Private Messaging ....

As we are unable to post external web site addresses on here do a search for the following terms for good information on foreskin stretching:

I'm 29 and currently not sexually active as I'm not in a relationship but never really had problems with not being able to pull my foreskin back until recently when I noticed the redness. I've continued with the stretches but is there any creams or ointments that you could recommend that would clear up the redness or advice, thank you, J.

I'm just curious how long it takes for the redness to go away. I've been applying cream now a few days. The milky substance comes from around the foreskin.

I've been doing the stretches but it doesn't seem to be going any further down.

To back up Wee Dugie and as a fellow former sufferer of both Balanitis and particularly phimosis I agree that in a large amount of cases, the skin can stretch enabling you to retract your foreskin. It took me many years of stretching but eventually become more supple by the time I was about 28, and now works okay.

How long does it take the redness to go and the phisismos to go because I got some cream for the redness. Occasionally I've noticed a milky substance coming from around the side of my glands.

      I'm 29
