reduce risperidone for schizophrenia

Hi

I suffer from schizophrenia. I was on 6 mg a day some years ago. Yesterday my psychiatrist reduced it to 2 mg a day. My health is doing very well and my sleep is very good. I exercise 1.5-2 hours a day for 5 days a week.

Has anyone managed to reduce his risperidone below 2mg for schizophrenia. I want to try in an years time if I can go below 2 mg. I will be talking to my psychiatrist for this. I plan to increase my exercise as my medication is being reduced and eat healthy.

I am very keen to know if anyone else has tried it

I was only on low dose risperidone for a couple months for anxiety and sleep.  I think I was up to 1 mg at the most.  I responded ok on the drug - it didn't make me feel too zombied out, but I started experiencing akathisia, which caused me to discontinue.  I had never experienced akathisia before and what a horrible feeling.  Have you experienced akathisia at 6 mg?  What sort of side effects are you experiencing?  As to withdrawal symptoms, I really didn't have any upon discontinuation - again I was on a very low dose.

I have mild tremors with the medication, which in the past improved as medication was lowered. As my medication is being lowered I am increasing my exercise. Mild tremors are the only symptoms that I experience.

I mean mild tremors are the only side effects (not symptoms)
