Reduced pain medication

Recently the state of Tn has impacted new Opiod laws and my doctor said he could no longer prescribe the 25 mcg Fentanyl Transdermal patch that I had been on for 17 yrs. and had a wonderful quality of life.I had been on quite a few other meds and nothing else worked. Two weeks prior to getting an appt with a pain mgmt clinic,he wrote a rd for 12mcg.Now the pain mgmt group is refusing to increase back to 25 mcg and my pain level is at a 10 after 3 wks.I have Fibro,Degenerative Disc Disease in C5 and C6 and Diabetes Neuropathy.I also have severe depression and generalized anxiety disorder.I had been psychologically hospitalized in 2000 and 2003 due to medications exacerbating my depression.Pain mgmt is willing to give me Flexeril which I feel is actually more dangerous to me than the patch as the Flexeril depresses me.I have never misused or abused my medication.I am struggling so much at this point and not sure where to turn and am desperately holding on by a thread.

I am so sorry to hear this. It is so unfair that people like you and I who really need it, have to suffer because of abuse by other people. I guess actually those people became addicted so it really is a double edged sword. I wish you well and hope you can get someone to help you. Hang in there!

Thank you. It's noon here and I just got back from ER because I hurt so bad.I turned down Dilaudid in an IV for a Toradal shot.Hopefully that helped show that I only want pain relief not narcotics. The shot helped some and a want pain relief not a high. The Fentanyl causing so many deaths is a powdered form being being cut into Heroin and I think it's coming in from Mexico and China.A friend and I were talking the other day and he thinks some of the chronic pain sufferers will turn to Heroin in order to manage their pain and that is absolutely horrifying to me.
