Reducing efficacy of Latanoprost

I have the impression that over a month Latanoprost becomes less effective: the side effects manifest themselves towards the end of the month but disappear with a new phial of the medication. Does anyone else experience this?

    Hello there

Yes I noticed it and continue to notice it so far since last few months .We use xalatan for my daughter who has unilateral Glaucoma and for her after 20-25 days pressures rise up to 25-26 and with a new drop in picture gets down to 14-15 .

I initially dismissed it as perhaps we live in hot country and with unproper norms of shifting medicines their efficacy is reduced .We didn't got the original one many a times even when consistently pressure we're on peak and surgery need kept knocking and suddenly the same drop works when got from different store.

    We learn everyday....

Thanks for your comment.  From your name I guess you live in India, where the climate is hot!  Obviously, you know that the medication must be refrigerated, but it declines nevertheless and has to be discarded after 28 days.  As a result, I have asked my GP to prescribe the daily version of the drug without preservatives in the hope that no side effects appear.  Good luck!
