Reducing Pred and Blood Glucose Levels?

Different for everyone I know but can anyone give a rough idea when Blood Glucose levels begin to be altered by the reduction of Pred once 30mg has been reached and further tapering commenced? (Assuming that they'd been raised by the higher dosage of Pred that is)
I remember Michdon(?sp) stating that his were extremely erratic despite his strict diet regime (long standing diabetes).

I don't think there is an answer - the spikes due to release from the liver are random anyway which is probably why Michdonn found they were erratic. That's why I said that Hba1c is a better indicator of diabetes status than a random BS check - it could be high, low or anywhere in between,

Thankyou Eileen - it's the problem husband and his eating habits when away for a day plus irregular exercise pattern, particularly now the village/county show scene is coming to an end, his workshop activities will change according to weather.
Adjusting lifestyle is highly unlikely unfortunately he's really set in his ways.

Yup - I have to admit to have almost given up! But mine isn't diabetic. Not within a million miles despite an appalling diet!

My hubby's diet is also terrible. But he not only refuses to eat right but he also refuses to see a doctor. Including the 3 years we've dated we have been together for 30 years. In that time he has only gone to see the doctor 4 times. Once while we were dating and then 3 times since we've been married. He is 59 years old so I feel pretty confident that he has high cholesterol at the very least. But even if I was able to get him to go to see the doctor I know he would never take the medicine.
When I started prednisone my A1C level was considered pre-diabetic. It is not a surprise that I am now a diabetic. But my A1C was never been very high. My last one was only 6.1 and the one before that was 5 which is normal. But in that time I have reduced my prednisone down to 6 mg and I'm on Metformin which has helped considerably.

This one didn't go to the GP until he had pain up the side of his neck; severe discomfort and restricted jaw movemnt on eating and the top of his head was sore++
She told him what she sudpected - took bloods.
Next day a phone call - down to surgery at 10. 30 - GP had bllood results -she'd made a couple of phone calls and told him to drive to the Rapid Assessment Unit as fast as he could wihout breaking the speed limit.
They let him out after 3 days with dx PMR - TA most likely, biopsy appointment the next week.
Now he'd had stiff painful legs, shoulders, neck, back - puthese all down to post-traumatic and work induced OA after a few RTAs in youth and work as mechanic/tyre supplier for many years.
2 or 3 years ago Son-in-Law sugested visit to GP for bloodtests as the aches & pains "could be something else" (SiL is a GP) and I also was aware of this possibility - but NO not until things became really unbearable resulting in !st visit to GP for well over 25 if not 35 years!
We'll not mention cholesterol etc. or he might not go to surgery for ages but for the fact that a visit once he's settled on 30mg pred could mean he may be advised to reduce further.

Well he's never been over 16.
15.x three times mid-morning in past 8 weeks -but possibly time when pred boosting++
figures before evening meal (our main meal of day) have varied tremendously from 3.x on 3 days when he was loading/unloading tractors and taking them to show field; no signs of hypo - driving a tractor up or down ramps on/off trailer requires good concentration and co-ordination (width of rear wheels almost same as ramps).
Conversely when he's been at a show and leaving tractor on field and succumbing to temptation re icecream etc. there's been a reading of 7+ or when he's had a lazy afternoon.
Given the length of time he'll be on pred. we're likely to have problems.

Is there another family member or a close trusted friend who could make him see that he's being selfish not caring for himself? I recommend this not come from you, nor implicate you in any way.

Unfortunately daughter (lives 100+ miles away) is possibly the only one he'd listen to - but it would be obvious that I'd told her.
Will just have to see what the health centre staff have to say.
