Carry on .5 reduction per month until you reach 5mgs, then stay on that for about 3 months, then try, and I mean try, to reduce again at .5 mgs.

    Good luck!

I do a slow reduction from the PMRGCAUK organisation. When reducing say from 9mg prednisolone to 8mg I have 1 day on 8mg followed by 4days on 9mg, then 1day on 8 followed by 3 days on 9, 1on 8 then 2 on 9, 1on 8 and 1 on 9 then gradually increasing the number of days on 8 ie 2 on 8 then 1 on 9, 3 on 8 then 1 on 9 up to 5 days on 8 then none on 9.

In fact I'm doing the ultra slow one which starts with 1 day on 8mg followed by 6 days on 9 and so on. I find a very slow reduction suits me as my body seems to take a while to adjust to the lower dose and this is so slow that if you sense your body complaining you can stay on the dose you're on until it settles.

Probably not for everyone as it is slow but it suits me.

Do you mean mine? The "Dead slow and nearly stop" plan?

If so, take the 10mg dose for the next 5 days, then one day of 9.5mg again. Then 10mg for 4 days - so one day each time of the new low dose, with one less day of the old dose before the next lower dose.

You get to alternate days of old and new dose - then increase the number of days of new dose between the days of old dose in the reverse order. It sounds complicated when you write it down - get a diary or calendar and and 2 highlighters in different colours. Mark one day in one colour for the new dose, the next 5 days in the other for the old dose, then one day for new, 4 days for old and so on - you can see it more easily like that.

Hope you have managed in the meantime and sorry I'm late with a response. I'm in China...

I am - it's wonderful! Was it you said if it wasn't on a bucket list it should be? I loved Shanghai - and I hate big cities!

I think I have lived abroad too long! Ā Loads of expressions, abbreviations, I don't understand.

Googled it. Ā I'd only have two things on my list - my life to return to what it was pre PMR, and travel.

Your children are probably a bit old too - mine still use Facebook and stuff like that which keeps me up-to-date with such things. I do notice my friend of the same age uses much "better" English in some ways because she has less contact with younger native English speakers. I can but also use their language too quite a bit - but there are still loads of things I don't know. Google will usually provide an entry from urban dictionary!Ā wink
