I can feel your worry. As a patient of the WaltonCentre I can assure you that your wife is in the very best hands with top specialists and nurses. I can not fault the care I have received over the last 7 years. I hope your wife is ok, be strong

Hi and thanks Fiona can I ask do you recognise  these symptons?  I think I'm just  expecting the worse news possible but there is so many spine problems.

To be honest Richard there are so many things that can cause those symptoms that I would not like to start guessing. An alteration in Bowel movements is probably due to nerve involvement, as I too have bowel and bladder issues due to nerve damage. I know it is hard but try not to worry. Let me know how she gets on

    hi richard

im not a dr but your wife seems to have some symptoms like myself but don't take this that she has what i have been diagnosed as having look and read about Spinal Stenosis i was fed up of been fobbed of with different tests till i had an MRI scan done november last yr when it was picked up i don't know if she as any of balance episosed's but i do there are two kinds of this type of spinal stenosis if she as the same as i have i get really bad tingling in my legs and feet and pain in my back it can be helped with pain killers or surjury but the hospital are trying different tecnechics at the moment as operating is the last resort but i do have quite a few other problem's with my spine so im not saying she as this but its worth reading about it but don't take my word for what i could be very wrong by giving you my own syptoms of what i have that she may not have.

i also understand your concern for your wife but you will know better what is the cause and its best you do as the conultant tells you not to fly this can be due to causeing blood clots.

i hope she gets sorted out tell her she is better taking notice by not flying i no i couldn't when i got told from the out come of the MRI scan till they find out what to do for me some ppl can have this problems yrs and not no they have this problem its degenaration of the spinal cord but i stress dpn't take mine as been the same as your wife's till you are told i just hope its not the same as mine as im very limited to what i can do.

good luck and keep us posted

Hi Richard your wife symptoms are similar to mine numbness in legs pins and needles it took two year for my operation but if I am fair to consultants I had epidural injections but they lasted only for a few months I can imagine what pain your wife is going thru I am now a week and a bit post op I had a spinal fusion and have been told to be active as much as possible but also rest

Hi hun I am also having similar issues with tingling / numbness legs arms feet and hands, I have been diagnosed with spondylosis and degerated disc disease however my mri shows no nerve issues so there saying they don't think my spine has anything to do with them issues ! I have been refused to see a Nero surgeon for second opinion and nobody wants to know tbh my gp is good and sending letters off to all the right people yet they just. Decline! I am waiting for pain management and being sent to romatolagy (spelling bad lol ) . Anyways hope your wife gets some answers soon good luck and take care.

Even though I had been under a neuro surgeon for 7 years at the Walton and he always said he would see me again yet when my GP tried to get me re-referred I too was knocked back even though I had all my symptoms back.  I ended up going private. It turned out the wrong MRI had been done and I was boosted to the top of the list for surgery. It frustrates me that they obviously have a very rigorous yes/no system in place. I am now 7 months post op and have told my surgeon I do not want to be discharged-ever!!! If you can do this it's worth it for peace of mind, if not get referred to physio as well as pain management and then if your symptoms persist get them both to write to Walton again. Hope you get sorted

Been waiting for physio for 3month for them then to just cancel and say I wouldn't benifit from it.!! I have had to fight just to see someone about getting crutches just so I can get about. Don't get wrong I am not house bound and lots of people way worse than me but it really annoys me just at the fact some people get every help possible yet others get no help. X
