Hi Michelle, please don't panic. I know it's very scary. I have been through these things on and off for a couple of years. I woud not go onto google and start looking becuase you'll find all sorts of things which will make you more scared. And all those things may not have anything to do with you. Wait to see what the doc says. Remember it could be showing something very simple.

I had surgery 10 weeks ago for anal fissure and hemmorhoids and am still bleeding and have been told it could take up to 4 months before I stop. I take stool softners twice a day, natural psyllium to make sure I'm not straining and putting more pressure on myself and drink lots and lots of water.

Once you talk to the doc on Monday then you will know where to go from there. And as i said it could be something very simple.and whatever it is you can always get another opinion if is makes you more comfortable.

Yes, let us know how things go. Hopefully it will be something very simple and either way at least you will know what you are dealing with and can then work on finding out what you need to do to deal with it. there's lot of people on here with ideas and suggestions to make your life easier once you know. This site helped me so much after my surgery,  there's lots of support from others.

Well I've had a phone call from the Dr she said the ph in my stool is high which shows inflamation in my bowel .I've been referred for the camera to see what's going on .she mentioned colitis .I did ask if piles could cause the high ph but she didn't know .the bleeding was definitely fairly low down because both drs that examined me and diagnosed piles said they could see the bleeding. This has now stopped and the mucus I was was getting isn't happening much either .I'm so worried !!

Well, that's good news that they are going to use a camera and find out what the cause is. My mother just had a collonscopy this past week in England and got good news that they couldn't find anything serious - so at least you find out what the cause is.

So I had bleeding that was fairly low and it was anal fisssure. Some of these things heal themselves with time. You could ask if you can use suppositries to help or soemtimes they don't want to 'block' anything until they find out what the cause is.

Don't panic. I know it's a big worry but at least you are working on finding out a cause. Make sure you are drinking lots of water and try to keep a decent diet so you don't have to strain. Look up things that cause constipation and try to avoid those.  Again drink lots of water.

Cant believe that you had to take a stool sample when you suffer from rectal bleeding . That whole test is designed to find blood in your stool , of course there will be trace blood in it . All that has done is cause totally unnecessary worry . I have been sent the test kit for the last 2 years , as thats what hapens in UK for men at 50 . Common sense prevails when I call them to say I cant take the test as I am in the midst of haemorrhoid treatment and suffer bleeding , and they agree totally , as it would flag up an issue that likely does not exist .

The stool sample was done because I also had mucus without stools to rule out colitis . The Dr I saw said it was to put my mind at rest .I'm beginning to wonder if it's just shown blood in the sample and they haven't looked at my history .
