Referred knee pain

Good afternoon everyone,
I recently had a Left Hip Resurfacing op (nearly 4 weeks ago).
Was at physio today and discussed my left knee pain (outer knee) and after undergoing some exercises my physio casually mentioned I still have referred pain from my hip to my knee.
You can imagine my head is thinking 'surely it's not failed already'.
Essentially is this a common problem after hip surgery? I have upped my physio in the last week and more than halved my medication so possibily I am just feeling it more but I do have some bruising (it's been here for about a week but it's beginning to fade).
Just wondered if I am panicking over nothing and this is simply all part of he healing/adjustment process.
What everyone's experience around this?
Cheers
Paul

4 weeks is still quite early. Whenever the hip is operated on it can take quite a few weeks of physical therapy (physio) to get everything aligned properly again. I experienced knee pain after my FHR. After several weeks of physio, and once the muscles became stronger, I no longer had pain in the knee.
It sounds as if you are on track. Try not to worry. Just keep up with the strengthening exercises.
Best of luck as you continue to recover

Paul,
Do you have any resistance bands? It's the type they use in physio. You can buy them online for very little. They are wonderful for strengthening All muscles around the hip. My specialist told me to make sure that I'm strengthening the inner and outer thigh muscles. The front and back are used when walking, so are much easier to get into shape. It's the surrounding muscles that are important for stability.
You can find more information on You Tube. Type in 'hip exercises with resistance bands'. Best of luck!

I have ankle weights to use and will progress to resistance bands over the coming weeks.
I will have a look at you tube for some exercises.
Thanks again.

I have also been given resistance bands and ankle weights this week by my physio. To help with knee pain and build up those muscles. It's hard work but definitely helping!
