Reflux problems 😥

I have suffered with reflux for many many years now but 2 months ago i was eating a salad at work and the lettuce got stuck in my throat causing the acid to push up in my throat which has caused multiple problems in my life. I have a constant lump in the throat, clear my thoat all the time and worst of all i cant swallow sometimes, like food or liquids and sometimes even wake up when im sleeping not been able to swallow. I often feel down and depressed because of what is happening. I went to the specialist last month and he said i have reflux and prescribed pantoprazole 20mg to me for 6 months. It has helped a bit compared to two months ago when the incident happened, but i seriously cant take this feeling anymore of not been able to swallow properly. I love food and now i dont even want to eat anymore because im scared of what the consequences will be. Is there anything anyone can suggest to help me? I cant keep running to doctors as it costs alot of money and im not on medical aid. I would like to continue the pantoprazole a little while longer, but if something else will help i will definitely try it.

Thanks

There are so many SUGGESTIONS out there, but for so many, this is trial and error..I suggest reading the forums for this and take advice from what others have tried and just try different things I guess. That is what many of us do, so far there have been short breaks of the globus that you describe, but it usually returns. We have found that stress is a major culprit of this horrendous globus, and some gave discussed with their drs and anxiety meds seemed to help some. I wish I could tell you what works for sure. I do take 2 tsp of organic apple cider vinegar per one cup of water and this truly helps me, but can't say it will you. Only your trials can say that. But keep trying, there has to be something...prayers...

      Hi Terrie

I'm definitely going to try the apple cider vinegar option as we have that at the home. Do you take it with warm or cold water? I do hope it helps as this feeling is horrendous not be able to swallow normally sad

Hi nianca the same thing happened to me a few months ago . I fell asleep with a boiled sweet which choked me and caused the acid to rise and since then I had a lump feeling in my throat that has become worse . Sometimes difficult to swallow and a soreness too that makes me feel like I've sucked a mint because of the cold feeling . I am losing interest in eating as worried it will get worse . Ppi's don't seem to help that much . I'm so depressed and stressed so know how you feel . I don't know how to cure it . Do u get that sore cold feeling too

Hi Ray - the sore cold feeling I get is sometimes my glands feel a bit sore as if i am getting the flu. I will rub some Vicks on (which is a menthal vapour rub and maybe suck a strepsol (sweet) - sorry not sure what country you are in so that is why I'm explaining what they are). My lump in the throat seems to come and go as the day progresses. Have you been to a Doctor or specialist yet? And are you taking anything for the reflux? I will definitely go see my Doctor once my pantoprazole is finished in 4 months time. I just need to figure out how to get the lump feeling away and take it from there.

Hi bianca I'm in England . I do the same as you with the vicks and strepsils. The lump and cold feeling is driving me mad as not going . I've been diagnosed with silent reflux and have changed my diet to where I don't eat alot . I mainly drink water and I'm on omeprozole but after nearly three weeks nothing has improved .
