Regarding the recovery from HAL-RAR surgery

Hi,
I am considering to undergo a HAL-RAR procedure to treat my grade 3 hemorrhoids.
I read that a lot of patients experience prolapse in the first days/weeks after surgery, is it because full recovery takes up to 12 weeks so the hemorrhoids aren't shrunk yet (although they are supposed to be fixed back by the RAR process), or rather because the surgery failed?
Unfortunately not many of the posts are updated by their OPs so hopefully its a good sign...
Cheers

Hi Barry,
Although you've written this quite a while ago, I thought I'd give my input.
I underwent the Hal-Rar procedure 12 days ago. I've had a mix of Grade 2 and 3 internal and external hems. Right now I do have two big external piles that were not there before, so from my point of view what you say is true and can happen.
Other than that, I had no serious pain, great BMs overall, no blood, and in short the procedure went great in terms of post-op complications.
Now the good thing is that my doctor does not seem to mind about my new external piles. He says some swelling can be part of the healing process. He is more concerned about me not being in pain and having a high quality of life. And he told me to be patient, because it takes at least 6-8 weeks for the final results to show. I'll see him again soon for my first post-op check-up.
If you ever see this I'd be glad to know what happened on your end. Thanks!
