I'm just over 2 weeks from having big toe fusion and weils osteotomy on my left foot, having had the same on my right in 2014

I had my first dressing changed on Friday and was looking forward to having the bulky bandages taken off and a tubigrip dressing put on...but no....I'm in a full plaster cast, awkward to walk even on the heel which is how I'm supposed to get about.....

Also feels a lot of pressure being put on the scars and I compress my foot when standing...

Last time when I had the tubigrip on I could air my foot when elevating and massage the scar tissue once the wound had heald.

Different surgeon so I suppose different ways.....

    Hi Karla,

?I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery did not go well!

?I'm very hopeful that mine will correct my foot after a long recovery and that I'll be able to wear normal shoes and walk again for an hour a day!

?I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and wish you much luck in your situation.

    ?Best, Karen

Hi Karla!  Same thing happened to me for both feet.  I had mine done 3 mos apart.  Got my cast off 2.5 weeks ago and am in a boot now for a month,  Depending on what you have to have done, this surgery is huge.the problems with the feet only get worse, and the surgery has to be done.  My feet look and feel totally different now.  The feet problems caused issues with muscles, even up to my knee.  It takes a while to heal, but, after you work through it. you will find that it was good to get it over with and you will be able to carry on without pain.  Take really good care of yourself----it is a day at a time type thing.  Give yourself a break and be kind to yourself.
