Reinfection. Should I????

Long story so sorry. My ex partner which is my 10 year old sons mum had scabies around 4 months ago. She had the tell tale signs all over her back & the itching. My son didn't show any signs other than itching & I had slight itching too. I went to the doctors & he said it didn't look like I had them but gave me some cream to apply. I changed all the bedding & duvet for new ones & cleaned every where & every item of clothing was washed over 50°C. My ex also did the same & I also treated my son. Everything seemed fine & not more signs of scabies.

Around 3 weeks ago I developed scabs in between my fingers with intense itching. My new partner & 5 year old daughter have intense itching too & small red dots. I went to the doctors & he said I have scabies. My new partner also went today & her doctor said the same about her.

This is all causing extreme fighting now between my ex partner & new. My new partner thinks my son should stay away from mine for a few days until we have all been treated but my ex partner my sons mum is extremely annoyed that I am refusing to see my son for a few days & is actually blaming me for having them when she was the originally infected one. She as also gone as far to say that it may be from my new partner this time which I think is highly unlikely.

So the question is, should I keep distance from my son for a few days until everyone is treated? Thanks.

Hi there. I think I remember your original post as you were diagnosed just after me it seems.

Hopefully I can shed some insight.

While only you, your ex an current partner can and should decide on what’s best I personally think it’s important for your son to be in a household where you know for a fact the strict cleaning criteria are being met. To separate if your confident it is I wouldn’t stay away from him.

As for the bumps between your fingers I too had them nearly 2 months after I didn’t have signs or anything.

They were small whitish red pimples that appeared in the webbing of my one finger. Not all.

While this is a common place for them to be it is also a quick skin shedding area too.

I panicked thinking it was scabies returning so I did 2 days of local permethrin treatment just to put my mind at ease.

I think they lasted maybe 2 weeks then were gone. It wasn’t a return of scabies tho.

Hopefully this is the same for you. If anyone else has further bumps or burrows tho I would definitely be treating everyone all over again and start that cleaning.

Good luck hopefully your lucky like I was.

Hi there & thanks for your reply. I think what I have is definitely scabies. The rash on my hands got pretty bad to the point you could see puss coming from some of the scabs & this was for around 3 weeks. I tried all sorts of cream & nothing worked but I applied some Permethrin cream yesterday & it has almost cleared which tells me it must be some kind of mite.

My son stays on a Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon & I am thinking of not letting him stay this weekend so I can give my bedroom a good clean together with washing all the bedding etc & I think I will probably sleep on the sofa for a few days to make sure. I forgot to say previously that he sleeps in my bed as I live in a one bedroom flat. How does this sound?
