increasing by 50 mg has always helped me id i go through a bout of depression or anxiety. can you call your doctor and talk over the phone to see what he/she suggests you to increase to before Tuesday? if you cant get in touch maybe increase by 50mg until tuesday. you will be okay. use strategies to get through the anxiety: acknowledge your symptoms and fears, say them out loud in your head, and then say everything will be OK. sometimes i go for a walk and put on a youtube positive affirmations video and just listen to that over and over. im not a doctor but i am a school psychologist and i have horrible anxiety and depression and this helps me in the moment. also a hug or holding someones hand helps me. find what gives you comfort that youre not alone and will be OK.call a friend or family member or do online therapy.

Hi Knight, it will work because it has worked in the past. Take it from me. I've been on sertraline for more than two decades and I've gotten off and on it more than a dozen times, and like you, each time I get back on I was always afraid it wouldn't work, and yet, each time it has worked - although the side effects that I suffer are a bit different each time.
Hang in there. It has worked for you in the past, so it means your system responds to it, so nothing's changed. It will work again for you. It just takes time. Meanwhile, try not to be HALTS (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired or Stressed). Take lots of time to rest, get good sleep, get some fresh air - a walk would do you good - and try to go easy on yourself. This is all temporary.

Hi Gillian, I really can't remember because I didn't keep track then. I only recently started keeping track about 8 years back. I remember I started Zoloft (it was the brand name by Pfizer back then) during my second year in college, and have been on and off since. I am 44 years old, so I've been on and off this med for decades. I've come off of it before and have gone a few years without an attack until it all comes crashing down and then I'm back on the med again. My problem is not the side effects of coming off of it (mind you, it is not easy, but I've even done cold turkey from 100mg - yes, my pain and suffering threshold is high - all thanks to this illness - HA! - (sarcasm). My problem is that I've come to understand that this med may be a missing piece to me and that I don't want to risk getting off of it only to face another attack yet again. Each time I get into an attack, it takes so much from me and I waste so much time. And each time I fear I may not recover.
So my best advice to you is why do you want to come off of it? Or are you looking just to taper to a lower dosage? Let me know if this is what you really want and I can help you. Cheers.
