Relaxation causes anxiety?

Hi everyone.

So I've noticed that one of the causes of my anxiety seems to be relaxation. Whenever I find myself in a calm or quiet state, my anxiety is suddenly triggered which causes all of these thoughts to go. It's difficult cause I can't do the things I used to like such as get massages, run, go to church or sit at the beach. Has anyone experienced this and overcome it?

Thanks!

My therapist has me do this. Sit or lay down. Try to do some deep breathing. Clench your right fist as hard as you can for 5 seconds then let go for 10. Feel yourself relieving the tension. Now do it again and notice how it feels for your hand to relax and not be so tense and anxious. She has me go through my whole body solely focusing on the body part at hand...i.e. hands, feet, jaw, shoulders, eyebrows. It really helps relax and helps your mind understand how tense and anxious you really are. It's kinda like letting all the anxiety go piece by piece. Good luck to you. I hope this helps!
