Relief

new to this forum and feeling so relieved I found it!  Thought my op had failed as cervix is very low but see from other posts that others feel the same.  Four weeks post op and walked three miles today.  Not bad for a 65 year old!

3 miles, gingerbread! I would be dragging myself back for referral again. Your recovery and healing must be at very fat rate. I am 6 weeks post op and only doing as advised up to 2x20 min walks, while pottering about doing light household chores, between resting . Still can't sit upright at desk for more than 2/3 hours.

Last time I had op (hysterectomy and anteroor repair) I was covering about 2/3 miles somewhere between 6/12 weeks , kept pushing boundaries until in pain . Ended up back in to be rerepaired ( anterior and posterior this time).

Please be careful, and take it easy, I wish I had taken more time 1st time round while I was not working ( gave up my job and didn't want to go on sick, I knew I would be unable to return to that particular job.

This time round love my work and even though probably should be looking for lighter work have managed to do my job right up till surgery , so have submitted 'not fit to work line' , and hope to return as soon as I can. They sent me to wellbeing adviser who has not supporting me at all on this, refusing to discuss nature of my actual repair surgery, or even consider a graduated return beginning with light duties.

Will not be putting myself at risk of further surgery in near future ic I can help it would not be right to undo surgeons great work!

    Please be careful

It's not a recommendation we give phyllis at this early stage in the recovery. You just continue taking it slowly x

Will do matron, GP has given me a not fit for work for further 4 weeks, she advises not to go back till seen specialist and that perhaps could return only if guaranteed light duties. So will see how that is received.

Going to start small amounts if hovering and ironing from end of this week. Pelvic floor exersises are going really well can feel things tightening up!

Appreciate reminder to take it slowly!

Well done to you that's a long way for 4 weeks post op. No wonder your cervix feels like that it's had a good workout! I am nearly 4 weeks post op for quite a complex surgery and although I am getting about quite well I can't walk more than about 200 metres without pain! Keep up the good work and remember to rest that pelvic floor. I used some great pelvic relaxation exercises after my gynae surgeries, one of them being to lie down flat and lift your hips fairly high prop a pillow underneath and do some vaginal muscle squeezes very slowly and relax them right down with deep breathing, it's basically a pelvic tilt but letting gravity help to relax that floor! I think we should all adopt the BAT position (upside down!)
