Relief from Pruritus Ani

I HAVE to share this with you all! I suffered for nearly a year with pruritus ani. It started at the end of my pregnancy with my third baby. And continued. It seemed linked to my cycle every month and would get worse during ovulation but who knows why.

I’ve been to two proctologists, a general surgeon, gps, my Gynae and FINALLY my dermatologist has helped. I have tears in my eyes and I cannot believe that I’m ok! It’s only been a week but it feels like a lifetime! I’ve tried every cream: anusol, scheriproct, proctosedyl (which helped a bit), healing natural oils, sudocrem, I had cut out sugar and gluten. You name it I’ve tried it.

My dermatologist was horrified that I had suffered for almost a year. Said it’s unacceptable that I haven’t been helped properly. He prescribed Lotriderm - a cream to put on in the morning and at night for seven days. And it has cured me!!!!!!! I am over the moon and had to share this with you all. Wish I could personally tell every person suffering with this awful condition. I spent nights crying in desperation to find a cure. And this has been it.

Hi Meg, great, can you buy the Lotriderm over the counter, are you in the UK? A dreadful exasperating ailment indeed.Did your dermatologist say exactly what you had or what caused this in the first place.

Hi Susan. I am in th UK but my dermatologist is in South Africa. I saw him when I went back. He didn’t look or anything, just took my history and what I had used. Lotriderm has a cortisone and an antifungal in it.

I had tried everything, even deworming and candida medication in the beginning of the year which did nothing. He is a top dermatologist and said I would never put  up with a rash on my face for a year and was adamant that we had to fix this. So I got it in SA. But he said if it didn’t work to message him. But thankfully it has. It has changed my life.

Maybe ask your GP here for a script or for the equivalent?

Oh and he didn’t say what caused it. From my research it could’ve been brought on by a hemorrhoid I got at the end of my pregnancy. I also have a skin tag as a result but the derm said plenty of people have skin tags and don’t suffer with an itch. The proctologists and surgeon I saw said they don’t really understand PA... not much help at all. That’s why I tried everything, even my diet. So I’m not sure what caused it but it was my pregnancy for sure when it started

      Hi Susan,

I read about this post from Meg’s and wondered if you managed to get hold of Lotriderm and your feedback.

      Thanks

    Hi Meg,

Thanks for posting this! I needed this so badly. My sister has recently been to South Africa and got me a few tubes of this cream as I couldn’t find it online in the UK. I didn’t want to waste my time going GP’s either because they won’t have a clue what to prescribe and even if I ask them to prescribe Lotriderm, I am hesitant that they will.

I’ve just started a 7 day course. This is horrifying and I am praying I will have a better sleep tonight. Like you,  this has also started at the end of my pregnancy a few months ago. Could have been brought on by piles, who knows.

Anyway thanks again for posting this. Really appreciate it!

    Xx

      Hi Meg

Sorry for the delay.  It’s day 4 now and it’s not once itches since I’ve been using  Lotriderm. It could be all the in mind but I was determined that this will cure me once I start the treatment!!

Fingers and toes crossed it will work. Thanks for other recommendations if this doesn’t work out, but I’m praying this is going to help me. It is such a relieve I tell you - feels amazing.

Oh what did the doctor say today?

I am SO glad to hear that! Please please let this be it for you 🙏🏼

Let me know. The doc was pretty useless. Sent me for some blood tests to check iron, thyroid and sugar levels so let’s see what comes back. I totally forgot to ask about the oral course of antifungal medication... Argh. I will email my doc. But I’m still ok since that cleanse! So holding thumbs for both of us! Let me know

Hey! I’ve been thinking of you! How did the Lotriderm go?

      Hi Meg,

Thanks for asking. The Lotriderm has worked it’s magic. I’m still thinking about what you said about your itching coming back after 10 days. It’s been 23 days now and hope I’m not talking too soon but I think it WORKED!!!!

      Thanks to you! 😄

How are you? What’s the latest your side??

Hi guys. I know this thread is a little old but hoping some of you are still active. I’ve just been prescribed lotriderm for pruritus ani, I also have a bad red rash in the area. For those that used it, did you also have a rash? Thanks

      Hi Matthew,

Do you think the rash is because of the lotriderm?

I don’t even know whether I had a rash or not. I just scratched until I bled. Might have been a rash, unsure.

      The lotriderm is pretty good.
