Relief right in my garden!

I was experiencing another shingles outbreak (the last one was about 8 years ago) on my right waist to back area. Knowing from experience that the calamine lotion, oatmeal baths did not help me at all, I decided to attack the burning, itching and pain with raw aloes from my back yard. I peeled and rubbed it on liberally! The first time i did, the area burned like pepper!! I had to rinse it off after about 10 minutes. However, I noticed that the intense itching and burning had subsided considerably, so I continued to use the aloes. Each time the burning calmed down and soon i could leave on the slime until it dried on my skin. I continued this treatment, applying the raw aloes 4/5 times per day, I also took some painkillers in between. I noticed that no bumps or blisters ever erupted and within a week I was back to normal, though I continued to apply the aloes a few days more. I know that every body is different and also reacts differently to meds, but this sure worked for me! Thank God!

    Hello

You are so right about aloe!  I use it for everything in my house!  I take it fresh from the garden!

And to think, that I just decided to try this on the belief that if aloes can soothe burns, then why not the intense burning from shingles?

Do you think an aloe gel from the store would work?  I don't have an aloe plant.

Thanks for reading my post. I cannot answer your question unfortunately because I have never tried using a store product.

Hi heborah I’m glad to hear you’ve found the aloe vera applications to be whats best for you. Wish it was that easy for me. It’s coming up on a year in June of my PHN pain and I’ve not found any relief! My shingles came on on my left side of my face inside my nostrils (feels like ants are crawling inside my nose & face) up to my left eye it stopped the eye specialist said I was lucky the shingles didn’t get into my eyes.

I was given lidocaine at first ( it helped some) in the beginning 1st 10/days but this PHN pain is a non- stop pain in the assicus!

I wake up every morning with this bugs crawling in my face & nose feeling I mean as soon as I open my eyes it starts! My eyesight and focus in my left eye is shot now! Anytime I’m reading ( which used to be my fave past time)  my eyes begin to cross on their own. So in my opinion, either I didn’t get diagnosed accurately by the eye specialist, or the shingles actually did get inside my eyes and this old bag of a dr couldn’t see it?, or didn’t care about my eyes b/c of my race! I hear a lot of you on here talking about the meds you received at the 1st sign of your shingles outbreak. I didn’t get any of those types or kinds of the same meds from my GP. Therefore my shingles wasn’t treated properly and I’m suffering more it seems to me b/c of it. Again glad to hear you got relief and your accurate meds to treat your shingles.

    Best of luck to you

      Elena

Hoping you do feel better!  It is sad they didn’t give you the accurate meds in time!  I know the pain and the ant crawling thing cause I do feel that in my scalp as soon as I get up!  It’s hard and we have to get through the day with it

I have to take care of my mom, husband and it’s no easy task

Try to get natural meds because they are easier for your tummy!

      Feel better!
