I had a plate & screws inserted a year ago after breaking my wrist. I had it all removed about 8 weeks ago. Not found much difference tbh & Im still suffering with my wrist.
It was a very nasty break & def required help to hold it together. It is still early days for you if you have recently had this plate inserted. Your consultant can answer any questions for you...

I am a 71 year old female and broke my femur in 2014. I had a nail and screws put in but the screws were causing me problems, crunching, grinding and my tendon flicking over the end of the screw at my knee so it was decided to remove the nail and screws. Seventeen months after the break I had the operation but it was found that they couldn't take out the nail because the bone had grown over the end and it would have been a much longer and more complicated job to try and get it out so they only took out the screws. This stopped all the problems i had been having and now I just have the nail in. I am telling you this because you could find that if too long goes by and you heal well (I healed in around seven months and have no problems at all) you may find that they can't take the plates out. If you're not having any problems with the screws then why go through the operation to take it all out? By the way, I felt lucky if that is the word, that I broke my femur rather than the bones in my lower leg as I just had two small dressings at the hip and knee and yet the lower leg metalwork seems much more complicated or people are in plaster and on crutches for months on end. I was told to start full weight bearing from the day after the operation. Hope this helps.
