Removal of metal plate and screws at thigh after 20 months

Hi folks, i am gonna remove the metal plate and screws from my right thigh as a result of ORIF surgery due to femur fracture. I decided to remove the plate and screws because it has been causing some pain when climbing down stairs. However, reading up on articles on this removal surgery, it has also caused me some concerns that the removal may cause further fracture or infection.

Has anyone gone through the same removal surgery? Can you walk after the surgery? My doc has advised against running or heavy weight bearing but how about walking? Do I need to use crutches after surgery? My doc also said it will use about 4-6 weeks for full recovery before I can go back to running (avid runner here) but I read that I should only resume running after 12 weeks to allow full recovery of the bones or lest re-fracture.

Any advice from people who have gone through this is much appreciated! Thanks much in advance!

Sometimes surgery goes wrong, but usually what the nurses and doctors do is a good thing. It a good service. How long it takes for your body to get back to normal from injury depends on your lifestyle.
