Reoccuring bartholin abcess - should i get surgery?

I have a reoccuring bartholin abcess/cyst. I first got it 2 years ago and recently it came back a sceond time. Both experiences were a time of intense agony and I was completely bedridden. I feel ill and anxious at even the thought of this happening again. Although antibiotics have cleared the infection both times, this time there is still a visible lump on the gland. It is not infected and doesn't cause any pain or major discomfort but I'm absolutely terrified that it will come back as the cyst has not completely gone, only the infection (last time both cyst and infection completely went away.

What should I do? Apparently the gland can be removed if it's a reoccuring problem. I know a lot of people with this condition have worse episodes than me but it so severely affected my education and work last time, plus the agony, I really don't want to go through it ever again.

I agree with the homeopathic attempts first (aka common sense) but there can be a lot of homeopathic ideas, some good, some not so.  First and foremost stay clean - frequent baths and washing.  I'm not so sure you're going to find anything better than soap and water.  Wash well & soak after using lubricants.  I have a new cyst or something which has been cropping up and I wipe it down briefly with an alcohol and dry it off.  Eating plenty of yogurt to prevent yeast infections is standard advice too.  Make sure you have an Ob/Gyn you feel understands and communicates well and that you can work with.  I had a few episodes of infection and pain but it was mostly a real annoyance for 11 years.  My Ob/Gyn put in a "drain" which cured all.  Not sure why I'm not reading this is something others have had their doctors do.
