Reoccuring BC and Abcess anyone?

Posted , 2 users are following.

does anyone have any advice they could offer me?

5 years ago I had a BC that quickly turned into an abcess, being on holiday at the time and not knowing what it was or how painful it was about to get, I waited a couple of days until my flight home to see the Doctor. This was not the case I barely managed the flight home, and was straight off the plane into A&E where I had an egg sized abcess that was marsupalised. The cyst then never went just changed shape occasionally. However over the next year or so I had an abcess occur every 5 weeks or so...you can image what that was like!!! In 2005 I fell pregnant and the abcesses stopped although the cyst was still there, I had another marsup last June but straight away the cyst returned. I am now layed in bed with a pillow between my legs with yet another abcess. OMG does it ever stop!

I have an appointment with Gyno on Thurs but really not sure what to ask??? does anyone recommend having the gland removed??

    Hi there

I too have had re-occuring BC/abcess's and im on the 5th one myself. I feel when it starts to fill up, i then get about a day of extreme pain then it will burst. I had the op to drain the first one in Sept 08 and its been since then that i have had the re-occuring issues. I have been back to the doctor and i am being referred back to my gyne ward at hospital, im awaiting the appointment. This time i am going to ask to have the gland removed as i cant cope with the re-occurance of this any longer.

Let me now how your appointment goes and good luck.

I actually ended up in A&E on Sunday and they did an emergency Marsupalization! as it was an abcsess. I am recovering at home and am hopeful it will resolve the re-occurance (fingers crossed). Needless to say I had to cancel my appointment and will wait to see what happens.

This is my third Op and probably the 11th Abcsess. I think I shall ask about gland removal if I get another flare up. I have to add that the marsup op is not as painfull if the gland is not infected having experience of the both the cyst and abscsess marsup.

They are the pits and I really feel for you and anyone that suffers with them.

Let us know how your appointment goes.

    Hi Girls

I just wanted to let you both know I too have been through reoccurring infections of the bartholin cyst, about 10-12 at last count, and 3 marsups, so last August I decided to have the gland removed. They were occurring every 4 weeks and I had a holiday planned in September. I have to say the recovery was no worse than having a marsup. I had the operation about 11.30am and was out of hospital for about 2pm. I was off work for 3 days in total, and then back to the grind. I was still tender for a while after however, I have been free from cysts since :D , which is absolutly great. The only disadvantage is that most of the time I need a bit of help with lubrication while having sex  , but hey its a small price to pay compared to the excrutiating pain caused by one of these things!

I would definately recomend it to anyone who has had re-occurring infection, especially if they are in a steady relationship or married (not as embarrasing, if you need to grab the lube)
