Before I started taking the medication I would get 2-3 cold sores a year, with a constant urge for another outbreak with tingling and itchiness on the lip. I would apply Abreva as soon as I felt those signs and I wouldn't get one.

Now that I am on Valacyclovir at 500mg a day for suppression since November 2018, I have only had tingling once, and nothing happened.

This stuff is a life changer!

My first year i had five outbreaks but no where near as painful as the first. Second year now only 2 outbreaks. Whenever i feel an outbreak coming on i take the medication for a few days and it completely goes away. i know i am one of the lucky ones when it comes to out breaks as my first was so bad i could barely walk i was in so much discomfort from the sores

yes ive had a really bad first one but after starting valacylovir it has gotten bearable. im kinda traumatized after this first breakout which is why im choosing suppressive therapy
