Reoccurring cellulitis

Hi there, new to the forum but wanted some advice/opinion from fellow suffers.

I'm 25 years old, healthy weight, healthy diet. At the start of June I got bad cellulitis in my toe that spread up to my calf. Was treated with both IV and oral antibiotics. Two weeks later it returned and was again treated with oral antibiotics. My gp then put me on a 6 week antibiotic (vibramycin) which I finished about a month ago. In the last two weeks I've become run down with oral and throats thrush and feeling miserable. And then this evening my toe starts to swell slightly, blister and have a tightness to it.

I'm going out of my mind. I'm young and healthy before all this, no diabetes. I'm upset at the thought of taking more antibiotics after the pain I endured with the oral and throat thrush. Has anyone any similar experience or advice?

Make sure the skin around the surrounding area is we'll moisturised and keep doing this with the antibiotics

You might want to try and get a prescription for something Dermol 500, which is an anti-bacterial soap/lotion which should lower the amount of bacteria on the skin.

Ask for a blood test to check your immunity, although I suspect this might already have been ordered.

See if you can get a referral to a dermatologist to check your foot. There are a number of causes for the illness but breaks in the skin are one of the main ones (I first got it from a break in my skin due to eczema) and a dermatologist will check over your foot with an eye out for any such possible issues.

And has been said - you need to rest. Cellulitis can take a lot out of you and rushing back into things immediately afterwards can set you back.
