Reoccurring vertigo - advice appreciated

About a month ago I had my first experience with vertigo. I was waking up in the night and the room was spinning so badly I could hardly stand (trying to get to the bathroom for water to cool down) I went to the doctor who diagnosed vertigo and gave me tablets and it settled in a week or so.
Last week out of the blue I started having dizzy spells again. It’s not all the time and this time around I can more accurately tell what head movements cause a spell (forward and back to the right). It seems to be varying strengths for lack of a better word, sometimes the room moves sometimes it just feels like a wobble. I’ve been back to the doctor who prescribed more tablets and head movements and left me to it. I do have issues with fluid in my ear, both times the doctor has checked and said my ear looks fine (it doesn’t feel fine but then it never does).
I’ve taken time off work as I have to drive nearly an hour to get there, I have tried driving short distances and I’ve felt ok but quite anxious. I don’t know what to do, I feel worse when I first wake up, a bit unsteady overall and my head movements leave me feeling unsteady and sick for 15/20 mind after.
Sorry for for the rant but it’s such a hard thing to explain to people how I feel. I don’t want to take more time off work as I’m still in my probationary period but I still don’t know if I feel safe driving. Now I don’t know if it’s vertigo or if anxiety is playing a part in my dizziness. I feel a bit like I’m going mad!
Is is there anything else I can try?

Hi I am in a similar situation I was prescribed buccastem to take when dizzy they work for me but you can,t take them for long periods of time. It,s horrible you feel like your losing your mind.My vision is also affected and one of my triggers is travelling.Do you notice do you hold your head a certain way?.I am looking into homeopathy as it's got less side effects.I've just managed to do some gardening have to get things done while I can.I only joined today but it helps to know I,m not alone

The Dizzy's will cause anxiety, which will fuel the Dizzy's. It's a vicious circle, but it started with the dizziness and then obviously it creates anxiety. I have BPPV and MAV (Silent migraines) and was all over the place, the only time I didn't feel so dizzy was driving as I think this was because I wasn't on my feet. I was px Nortrityline for about a year for the Migraine vertigo, and the BPPV eventually resolved itself, despite Epley which didn't really work for me. I did some of my own exercises to help my balance and compensation, still get the odd dizzy spell when lying down and getting up too quickly, or looking up, which is called top shelf vertigo, think I will always have it there to a greater or lesser degree. Was investigated by DVLA that I was safe to drive as a community nurse and needed to drive.
Hope yours resolves, but it is a very difficult condition to get a definite diagnosis. It took over 2 years for me get near a proper diagnosis.
It seems to also be affected by the weather.

Two years is a long time! I do feel like the doctors are a bit not bothered to look into it any further than take this medicine and see what happens but they know more than me.

An Otoneurologist is a neurologist with additional years of specialized training. They approach dizziness and balance disorders from the brain outward instead of from the ear in toward the brain (as in neurotologists).
