Repeat Cystocele repair

Has anyone had repeat Cystocele repair? I had a repair of a Cystocele, rectocele and urethrocele along with anhysterectomy all at the same time about 14 years ago. I now have a grade 2 Cystocele again. The surgery was an awful recovery for me. I couldn’t urinate in my own for months (had to self cath). I never wanted to go through that again! Can someone please give me any ideas on if you have been through this as well?

    Hi

I am 3 weeks post cystocele and rectocele repair. I had the first done about 25 yrs ago. Both were grade 2 this time. 25yrs ago I had a supra pubic catheter for 2 weeks as I was unable 2 urinate. This time I had a urethral catheter which they took out 24hrs post surgery. I couldn't wee more than 100mls so it went back I again for another 24hrs. After it was removed for the 2nd time I couldn't wee enuf to keep up with the urine production even tho I had stopped drinking for 12 hrs. So I was catherised again and sent home for a week. I still have issues emptying my bladder and I'm on my 2nd lot of antibiotics. Waiting for the results of the wee culture later this week. I think some of us may swell more than others after the trauma of the surgery. I'm not really sure and no one at the hospital could say wots normal cos maybe there isn't a normal. I too like u was petrified at not being able to urinate post surgery given my previous history. That's it for me if I get another prolapse I'm just going to live with it! Good luck

Oh Kym ..........I feel so sad for you. I really hope this settles down. The recovery from the surgery is enough to bear without optional extras. I know how much you will be wanting to just get better.

I’m sending you all the best of  wishes

    Hi Mugrad

I had the same  plus ssf  16 years ago. I have just had it for the third time. As this area of the body comes under immense strain I just don’t think that they have an effective procedure that will support two thirds of your body weight plus all the extra things us women add to it in lifting and carrying.

I am 13 weeks post oop and it is only now that I can walk around and not feel strain on the upper wall.

Your bladder issues may not be as bad this time  if you are just having the cysto once they move the urethra around as well you have double trouble.

I understand that the memories are still there. Hopefully technique is better now but if you have the surgery no no no to carrying or lifting . I didn’t sit for 6 weeks so that the upper wall was not put under any pressure while it was trying to heal.

If the cysto is impacting on your quality of life mine was hugely then go for it you will have the strength if you keep your thoughts on the outcome.

Hope I have been a little helpful
