Replace IOL instead of capsulatomy

Is there a doctor in Florida who has successfully replaced an IOL?

I would rather slip the YAG, after reading it might not work.

Yes search Julielynn's posts - she had both lenses exchanged at sight trust located in sunrise.

Just a note - ask your eye doc to check for PCO vs lens opacification. If it's PCO, which is a growth of cells on the capsule behind the IOL, then it seems that YAG would be the only solution for that and far less traumatic for the eye than the exchange. But ask your doc to be sure. Best wishes!

As if it was not stressful enough, we also need to worry about IOL opacification!

Google: "Intraocular lens opacification: What have we learned so far"

From the article is that opacification of the IOL itself can rarely occur, but has only been seen in silicone IOLs (I don't think silicone is used anymore), and hydrophilic acrylic IOLs.

I don't think hydrophobic acrylic IOLs have ever had reports of IOL opacification.

Currently, the AcrySof (Alcon) platform (which the PanOptix uses) and the Symfony Tecnis are hydrophobic acrylic. While Carl Zeiss uses hydrophilic acrylic but with a hydrophobic surface (presumably they added the hydrophobic surface to protect against opacficiation? Ask you doctors). FineVIsion (PhysIOL) is hydrophilic.

I have no idea why some manufacturers use hydrophobic acrylic and others prefer hydrophilic acrylic. Seems to me world is moving to hydrophobic, or at least hydrophobic surface.
