October 31st I'll be one year post colon resection. I've done great and ate everything i couldn't before surgery. It's wonderful to her back to normal and I have never regretted surgery. I also have IBS so i experience constipation or diarrhea. It's a constant battle.. i use miralax for constipation and then may get diarrhea .
My question anyone else have this problem?
i also experience some aching in the are that i had the diverticulitis and was wondering if that was because if my constipation and diarrhea .

Linda,
I am 14 months post-resection surgery (laparoscopic).
I too have had constipation issues throughout this time of recovery.
I find that Metamucil twice a day does the trick to keep me regular.
I am taking one heaping tablespoon per dose.
I also have had aching that I thought was the DV returning.
After extensive testing with no signs of trouble according to my GI,
I nearly gave up. I then discovered that the scar tissue buildup from the surgery
could be the cause of my discomfort. I began an every other day routine of scar tissue
massage that improved my condition to a nearly-normal existence!
Most of us who have had lower abdominal surgery have a much higher chance of forming
adhesions. These adhesions can imitate our dreadful DV pains. Make a youtube search for "abdominal adhesion massage". I followed a few of these videos starting in July and have been in quite good condition since then. I have been able to back down to a twice a week massage to maintain my comfort.
Keep in mind that generally the day after the massage you may feel a little tender at the site of massage.
This is totally normal just like any tissue massage. Drink plenty of water. I hope this is useful and empowering for you!
Best,
Daniel

Thank you SO much!! i've been in a panic worrying about the pain. I've often wondered if it could be scar tissue. my surgeon told me he has to scrap scar tissue off when he did my resection. I will try the message. Again thank you for your reply.
