Residual Pain After Drainage

I've had a Bartholin abscess before that I suffered through without knowing what it was until right before it burst and felt that familiar sweet release from hell. I recovered well within a few days with no lasting pain after 1 week.

Five months later, I got a 2nd one about 5 weeks ago. After 4 days of agonizing pain, i headed to the ER to have to drained under general anesthesia. They were not able to insert a word catheter as it would not stay. Instead the ER doctor just packed it with gauze and when I awake I wasn't given any instructions on when to remove the gauze, so I took it out as soon as I got home. It seemed to drain for 2-3 days. Fast forward 5 weeks and I still feel a pinching pain and itching especially if I've been on my feet a lot (which is everyday with a toddler and 5 year old!). It's enough pain that I need to take an advil or two daily. I talked to my gynecologist and she told me it was pain from a wound healing and it would take a long time to heal and that I need to continue doing sitz baths daily. I didn't experience anything like this the first time! Has anyone had pain after a drainage that lasted so long? Do I need to see a pelvic physio?
