Rest post TKR

hi all,

I had a left leg TKR December 2019 which went really well and last week I had my right leg done. At the moment my pain is under control and I am sleeping really well at night. I just can't remember how much I should push myself or if most of the day is spent resting. At the moment I am doing my stretches 4 x a day and by the time I'm showered and dressed that feels like another exercise. Should I be walking a bit more and doing a few jobs around the house like making my own cuppa or should I just rest this week. Any advice welcome. x x

The more you rest, the stiffer your knee will become. Your doctor should have given you daily exercises followed by leg elevation with ice to control the inflammation. Physical Therapy exercises could be found online. Otherwise, your knee will become less flexible, stiff, and you won't be able to straighten the leg or bend as much. Portable small pedaling done daily also helps. They can be purchased for about $30. I was made to walk and exercise the first day in the hospital.

    thank you peggy_56092

As I said, I am doing my exercises 4x a day. I am also icing and elevating after the exercises.

My question concerned what to do for the rest of the time. Should I be resting or pushing myself to walk and do chores. As I am only 5 days post op, i will not start cycling until my staples are removed at the beginning of February
