Restless legs since THR

Ever since my THR - 4 weeks ago - I’ve had that horrible creepy crawley restless legs sensation. It starts about the same time every evening and it’s doing my head in. My GP has been amazing and has prescribed Ropinirole (which fortunately works but just wondering if anyone else is suffering with this since their hip operation and what do you think causes these very unpleasant sensations?

Yes right it like you can't stop moving our legs. Have you tried any thing to help. I find that megnesium taken before bed help with the restless legs. Try it and see if it helps. Usually magnesium supplements are handy if you have them around. If not then pickle juice really helps with RLS.

Yes, many of us go through a lot of odd issues like this. Luckily for me, mine just seemed to go away on it's own.
Restless creepy crawley and itchy legs, 'concrete leg', aches & pains in thigh leg and buttock, dropped or skewed foot, and of course the terrible problem of trying to get some sleep on our backs - sadly are all to be expected but hopefully not all experienced.

Hi Sarah, sorry to hear that your getting this problem. I suffer from RLS anyway and I take prescribed Pramipexole every evening - see my earlier post about it. I'm now on day 8 post LTHR and after 5 days had no RLS symptoms. I thought a miracle had happened and the RLS had gone away, but then on day 6 that old familiar feeling returned! So it's back to the drawing board - I haven't come across anything other than drugs that will keep this at bay. I know people have suggested various things they do - you'd be surprised at some of them - but they don't work for me.

It's the worse sensation ever, I had to go back into
hospital for over two weeks and nothing was prescribed for me regarding this hence many sleepless nights which really doesn't help your overall recuperation.

Sometims legs pumpnwraps help. I purchased them from amazon. Similar to the air pumps wrapped around the leg after hip surgery in hospital to prevent blood clots.

Hi Sarah
There are plenty of certified drugs for RLS that could have got you through the night. I'm amazed that the hospital let you suffer like that.
