RESUM procedure and prostatitis

Hi,

I am trying to get some advice and feedbacks from you all. I am 53 years old and had an medium lope enlarged prostate that caused weak urination, going often in 1-2 hrs, woke up about twice a night. Other than that, my prostate was OK and I was able to live a pretty good life.

My Dr. told me that I am an ideal candidate for RESUM that works very well and procedure is easy. I had a RESUM procedure done about two months ago. After the procedure, there's lot of blood clogs so I had to stay on catheter for almost two weeks, went to ER three times, and also took Flomax and Meloxicam to help reduce the pain and relax the prostate. About three weeks, I stopped taking them as I felt my symptoms were improving. But I started to notice that my urine stream got weaker and weaker as the time passed. About a week ago, I started having pain and stoppage with urination. It felt the worst in the late evening. My doctor gave me three weeks of antibiotics to take (Doxycycline) for UTI possibly due to bacterial infection in my prostate, prostatitis, but the urine culture test came back negative. I also did not have other bacteria infection related symptoms. After taking the antibiotics for five days, the symptoms with painful and stoppage urination actually became worse so I started taking Alfuzosin (alpha-blocker) and Meloxicam two days ago. Now, the painful sensation is reduced but the urine stream is still weak. It felt like what I have is a non-bacterial prostatitis as a result of the RESUM procedure that caused too much damages and inflammation to my prostate so the alpha-blocker and Meloxicam helped to relive the symptoms. I appreciate any feedbacks on post-RESUM recovery and how to deal with the prostatitis (likely non-bacterial).

Thanks,

Afu

Do you still see the blood clots in your urine? Take Rapaflo instead of other alpha-1 blocker. What is the prostate size before the Rezum procedure and how many injections?

What is special about Rapaflo that the other alpha blockers don't have? Thanks.

I have bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) that causes painful urination, weak stream, and stoppage and frequency. It looks like it's not infection but my former Dr was quick to give me antibiotics to take. No blood clots or blood in urine. Prostate was 48 grams before RESUM and 7 injections. 7 injections: 2+2 on the medium lope that intruded into the bladder wall causing it thicken (trabeculation) and 3 on the prostate.

Works fast and better than other alpha blockers. Try it and start from 4 mg!

Have you passed 6 weeks after Rezum? Your prostate size seems better for the Rezum procedure. After the Rezum, your prostate size is supposed to shrink. Your urine flow is supposed to be improved but need time. You should drink 8 cup of water before 6 PM to clear potential infection/inflammation.

If 6 months pass but one is not satisfied with the results, it is time to correct it by the other procedure.

Thanks. 6 months sound a very long time. At ~3 months mark, I have difficulty peeing and have to take Flomax and Urogenic-blue to help with the LUTS symptoms.

I was told at the time of the RESUM procedure that my symptoms should improve 1 month after the procedure.
