I think your very lucky. If it came out alot you should go to the Dr. But if just a little you might be able to go to rhe drug store and get that tape that holds stiches together. Wrap it tight and watch for infection . hopefully you can keep it closed and be all good.

No way should a 6 week old inscision open up. I had ankle fusion 21st March and a loose screw removed from it 3 weeks ago. It is a perfectly healed scar. DON'T LEAVE IT GO BACK ASAP PLEASE. I have had osteomylitis in the past. Deep infections can take a while to show. It may all be ok. But please don't put off getting checked like I did many years ago. Keep in touch. Hope all goes well.

Good lord, get to the doctor. Probably the ED if it has opened up very far. Should have been completely healed after 6 weeks. No reason for it to reopen. How deep did it reopen? Could be infected inside and not healing properly. We heal from the inside out typically. Just be careful and don't wait too long.

hey thanks but I did go to the doctor today and he doesn't think it's infected to the Bone or even that it's infected it's a little bit red but it is open but he said that he thinks it's healing slowly because I have Sjogren's and so that will make you heal up slowly and so he's just going to watch it for a while

Um yes it is red yes my ankle is swelling but it's been swollen since I had the surgery the first time but yes it has drainage but he said he's not too worried about it so I don't know I told him I'm worried about it but he doesn't want to see me back for a month unless something goes wrong so I'm just wondering if it's got drainage and it's red and he's not worried about it

What is the drainage like? Colour smell consistency etc. Put a small dressing on it to check. Is the area hot around it? Do you feel any difference in your overall well being? An open wound is an entry for infection. Sorry but I think you cannot be too careful. Are you in UK? Can you get another opinion?

Well I really like my Dr and it doesn't stink or anything and it's not hot

Is it coloured? Has he swabbed it?

No he didn't swap it he just looked at it and he took an x-ray of it and said come back in a month

I am not a doctor. But a six week old wound that has opened and is oozing is not normal. It is an entry to the bone. I know you like your doctor but go to your GP and get a swab. Then if its ok a nurse will ge able be show you wound care. Are you covering it?
