Returning chiari symptoms after car accident

Hi all,

I had my chiari decompression surgery in May of 2013. I've been feeling really well since 2015, almost 100% back to myself. This past November, I was in a car accident where a car ended up turning directly in front of my while I was going at 40 mph. I had whiplash and have slowly been having every single one of my chiari symptoms return, a long with more. I'm scared that I may need to have another surgery. For those of you who have had a second surgery, why did you end up getting the second surgery, and did it help?

Thank you in advancesmile

Was dx in 2014 but never recovered. I'm also having progressively degenerative symptoms and I wonder if I have brain slump(ptotis). I also would be interested if anyone had a second surgery. I would like to know the outcome. Thanks!

    Hi there,

My understanding is that chiari can develpo due to accident as well as the existing chiari can also trigger by accident, so its best not to settle your claim until you see the gp/neurologist/neurosurgeon...if the management treatment is helping you then I personally will choose that however if the pain can not be managed by medication then get your health care professional advice.
