returning for advice

Hi all,

It's been a while...finally got to see not one, but TWO Rheumatologists (one privately after waiting forever) and one NHS later.  The result was negative with the first, but the second decided that my sysmptoms were more likely to be FM than PMR.  Also, for the first time asked for an MRI to assess more fully considering there is back pain involved.

Long story short...if the MRI report is favourable am booked in for the first hip replacement before Christmas, the second to follow 3 months later.  So am feeling more positive, but am wondering if there is anyone out there who has FM with good results of hip replacement?  Do not feel like going through that twice over only to find the muscles will not work well enough to improve mobility.

Hoping fellow sufferers are managing to bear up under the considerable strain of FM.

Best

    Hi Chickabee

It's nice to hear you being positive smile

I just have one question...what does a rheumatologist do? I have never been referred to one even though I am diagnosed with fibro.

      Hi Boqer,

Well, the Rheumatologists I saw had a more in depth knowlege of FM and PRM...therefore were able to distinguish between the two.  Two GP's were of the opinion that I had PMR, but both Rheumatologists disagreed with that diagnosis, the second one said 'it was far more likely to be FM, so I am left believing this to be the case.

They say seeing a Reumatologist will bring investigations to a conclusion, so Why don't you ask your GP for a referral?
