Returning to competing my dogs after a THR and a torn Gluteous Minimus tendon.

I wanted to update the group that I competed my dogs in an agility trial this past weekend. Everything went unbelievable my little dog got 2 Qualifying scores my first time back. I was over the top with joy. It was just about 6 months and I am able to run a course. I worked hard but it paid off.

Fantastic you must be so pleased. You give me hope that I will be able to return to competing in agility before too long. Though I am only 8 weeks post op and just started back doing a little training. It wasn't exactly running but so good to be back going what my dogs love. Only us agility addicts can understand the fantastic feeling our sport gives us. Good luck for your next competitions.

You will get there. It took me longer because of the torn tendon. I am 6 months now and not totally where I want to be but I am working on it. Take advantage of working distance with your dogs. I did and it paid off because I can't run fast.

Thanks for your encouragement. I know it's early days but I do hope I can get back to competing as we all so enjoy it.  Thanks for the advice about distance work as I'm not that young or fast. Good luck to you in the future.

Hi Diane, that is so exciting!  It's so nice to read positive stories.  I had RTHR last July (2016).  I'm doing very well, but my weight has slowed the activity progress.  I'm feeling really good though because I've lost over a stone since Christmassmile  I still have 4 stones left to lose, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Just a stone has helped me so much!  I'm no longer in pain when I walk, but i'm not able to run just yet.  Give me another couple of months though and I should be well on the way!!
