Hi Colleen what manufacturer is the THR components your doctor is planning on using ? Does he have the components available for you to see in his office?  It's important that the patient knows the manufacturer and see the components and the revision surgery online to better understand the complexities of recovery thru Physio, exercise and the list of aides available.

And much much more that goes into the whole process.

If I understand it correctly after reading about this online it a technique for revision. Standard tests were done in three countries using cement on the poly cup or cementless poly cups,as well as coated femeral stems etc.

In the Swedish Hip Arthroplasty Register, cemented cups have performed better than cementless cups, and cementless femoral stems have had better survival than cemented stems. The technique is not new.

i remember when some cements were recalled as well as MOM components from the manufacturers years ago.

hope this is of some use for you.

I had my LTHR on 25th Jan. Surgeon didnt really explain what type of replacement i was having and to be honest i didnt have a lot of knowledge with regards to different types of hip replacements were out there. Was in that much pain that i didnt think about what he was doing as long as it helped.

Found my hospital letter last week and it says reverse hybrid hip replacement. Apparently it was a complex replacment due to the state of the joint and previous surgeries over the years. Iv looked online to try and research how people have recovered after surgery and cant find much info.

Thought i best ask if anyone else has had this type of replacement.
