Revision of knee replacement

I have to decide whether to have revision surgery to replace the first that hasn't been successful. Would be grateful if anyone out there who have had revision could share their experience.

I am in the same boat. We are away for this week, and I see a 2nd consultant next Thursday- which is the reason we decided to go away so I could try and forget it all. Any reply you get will be of great interest to my as well. How many months have you put up with the pain etc? I'm the one with a 6mm misalignment, plus it clicks all the time, so I presume it is unstable too. Struggling with pain, and a feeling it's just too large for my leg! We are just 3/4 off a mile from Glastonbury Tor, and I so want to walk to it, it is just out of the question- maybe next holiday I can!

Hi,Veronica, yes I remember you and your knee problems.

My pain/problems started about 3months after a promising start to recovery. Initially the bend was good but as the weeks went by (13th Dec 2013) it stiffened and I can't get more than 90 degrees. Stairs, getting up from sitting and turning over in bed still hurt and ,like you,the joint feels too  big for the skin around it. I recently had an emotional meltdown and even considered early retirement (midwife) and couldn't see my future for feeling like a cripple......dramatic,I know. Occupational Health have suggested trying the Pain Management team.

Well, enough wallowing, watch this space! Have a fab break in such a lovely part of the country.

We'll stay in touch. Mine too felt o.k. For the first 10 weeks, but I honestly think the large operation swelling hid the problems. I was also directed to a pain management team - but I refuse to live my life in pain. I can't do stairs, it hurts to turn over in bed, walking is a no-no etc, and I have only struggled 6 months while you have gone on much longer, no wonder you went into meltdown. We are the unfortunate ones that make up the statistics.
