Revision THR with periprosthetic fracture, unable to control my bladder and so upset!

Hi

I am coming up to 6 weeks post op

which found I had 2 infections and also a periprosthetic fracture and now have a

temporary hip.

I'm on crutches -partial weight bearing with no access to physio due to lock down.

My 6 week xray was Monday and I'm just waiting for an update.

My biggest problem at the moment is at night I am waking up twice a night both at exactly the same time every night to pee.

When I stand I am unable to hold my pee at all .........even with holding my pelvic floor muscles with all my might the pee actually runs down my leg. I'm using all available items to help......

Has anyone else had this type of fracture and this peeing problem?

What can I expect for recovery?

Will my pee ever return to normal?

Please help?

    Hi Samantha

What a terrible time you are having . Are you able to see a GP that maybe able to help you . I know its hard during this time but hopefully you can see a doctor. Also i can't see a physio so i found some good exercises online . I am 7 weeks post THR on right leg 🙂I can put you on to these exercises if your interested .

thank you so much for responding

I've actually emailed my GP for help thus morning.

my osteopath has given me some exercises. on video link to keep me going. but I would love a look at the ones you have found too.

on a positive note I can now get in and out of our bath to have a shower instead of body washes this has improved my self esteem no end .........little things bring so much joy! lol

    hi Samantha,

I had my hip pinned 3 months ago and since then i have a very weak bladder. First thing in the morning i just cannot hold on enough to get to the toilet so i keep a portable wee bottle by my bed which is very useful. I do manage in the day to just about get to the toilet but its hard as im disabled and use a stairlift which takes ages and on several occassions ive nearly not made it. I had a catheter whilst i was in hospital and wonder if thats caused a weak bladder. I honestly know how you feel and if you get any good tips please let me know as im struggling too.

    Thanks Mandie

Gp says the Catheter may have caused the issue.

    combination of

stress and urge incontinence pelvic floor exercises for 1 and he is going to prescribe short course of tablets for the other.

light at the end of the tunnel. ...

    I hope
